Chepstow is well connected by road, with motorways direct from Cardiff and South Wales, Bristol and the South West, London and Birmingham and the Midlands.
Chepstow’s on the junction of the M48 motorway and the A48 trunk road.
The M48 is the old M4, across the old Severn Bridge. That’s just one straight motorway drive from the Chiswick roundabout right out to Wales and Chepstow, stopping only to pay tolls (£5.60, free on return Eastbound) for the bridge.
From the South West of England, it’s easy too. The M4 or M5 lead to their junction North of Bristol, then it’s across the Severn Bridge and you’re there.
From South Wales, the M4 and M48 give easy access from Newportograd, Cardiff, Swansea and beyond.
There are two large road bridges across the Severn, both connected to the M4 and both similar looking. On the Welsh side, they land a few miles apart. The old bridge on the M48 is the one next to Chepstow, not the newer Second Severn Crossing on the M4.
If you should get lost and take the wrong one though, the M48 is a quick link between the two of them. Chepstow is well signed.
